joni is the heart behind baldflower apothecary and her brand is always intentionally written in lowercase as a reflection of her brand’s grounding in humility and natural flow. What began as a personal journey to support her and her daughter’s health during the pandemic quickly grew into a passion for helping others through herbal healing.
Today, she offers handcrafted remedies, one-on-one consultations, and a calming space where people come to reconnect with themselves. In this spotlight, joni shares what inspired her path, what healing means to her, and how baldflower continues to grow as a source of hope and holistic wellness.

What inspired you to start baldflower apothecary?
In 2019, I began to focus on healing myself spiritually and physically, but the pandemic came quickly right after, and I was afraid of the covid vaccine for my daughter and myself.
I began researching herbs that could help keep our immune systems strong, so I added a few to my garden and we began consuming what is now the c*vid tea, herbal booster shot and sea moss. Combined, those remedies were boosting our immune systems, providing 98% of the nutrients our bodies needed daily, and they all had anti-inflammatory, antiviral and anti-fungal properties.
They worked as we never contracted the flu and were never vaccinated. Friends and family started reaching out to try things and I began making remedies to help them out with longstanding issues. They started feeling better - so baldflower apothecary was born.
How do you hope people feel when they visit your shop or use your herbal remedies?
The intention I set every day that I come into the apothecary is that someone comes in and gets what they need to help them feel better. Sometimes a person comes in after scheduling a one-on-one consultation and we discuss the issue(s) causing their dis-ease.
Many times, after discussing lifestyle we end up just talking and that is what they needed. They needed to hear themselves out loud in order to have an epiphany.
Then they get to go home and follow that up with a tea, soak or a steam that was made in good energy with the intention to help them get in touch with themselves. When you walk into the apothecary you immediately smell menthol which opens up your nostrils to help you breathe deep. When we breathe deep, we provide a good ole dose of oxygen to the brain. Sometimes that is just what we need.

What does herbal healing mean to you personally?
For me, herbal healing means having the ability to connect with this planet to heal myself and my community. Many times, we get so bogged down by the woes we are experiencing that we are unable to maintain or even establish this connection.
I truly believe this planet contains all of the minerals, plants, fungi, etc. that we need to live a healthy life; so, if we stay connected and grounded, we can give ourselves what we need and then spread that outward.
What has been one of the most rewarding moments since starting baldflower?
There have been so many, but the one that really stands out is where a man came by because he heard I sold herbal pre-rolls that contain only mullein and other herbs helpful to our respiratory systems. He had had a cough post-covid for 6 months and was unable to shake it.
He bought a 10-pack of mullein herbal pre-rolls which contains only mullein and lavender in a non-bleached paper cone and filter (no THC, no tobacco, no nicotine).
The next day he came back very excited because his cough had subsided helping him have a full night's sleep and to feel better. That really made me feel good because the remedy was a very simple but unbelievable one. He now grows his own mullein!

What advice would you offer to someone exploring natural healing for the first time?
To someone exploring natural healing for the first time I say to start with an assessment of yourself. what does your body need? how does your body feel? how is your mind? then go from there; start working with a few herbs that help you with one issue and build from there.
Of course, your local herbalist can help you out a lot with remedies they have already created or with knowledge about different herbs and how they can assist you. Herbalism can be extremely overwhelming and there are so many plants available that I think it is good to start small and slow. Currently, I work with 76 herbs but back in 2019 when I started, I was only working with nine herbs.
What’s your vision for the future of baldflower apothecary?
My vision for the future of baldflower apothecary is to be a reliable source for medicinal plants and remedies within the community. I want this apothecary to be a place that helps people feel better.
I want people to think of baldflower apothecary when they begin their healing journey. I have spent so many years working on my whole self: mind, body and spirit and am a testament to the power of herbal medicine. I truly strive to be a beacon of hope!
