Meet Rakita Lillard-Brown : Founder of Holistree
Holistree is a Luxury Wellness Lifestyle Brand dedicated to helping Black women thrive in wellness, culture, and abundance. We curate high-end experiences, membership communities, and lifestyle products that merge rest, joy, and intentional living.
Holistree is more than a brand. It is a sanctuary created with intention by founder, Rakita Lillard-Brown — a space where Black women are invited to exhale, soften, be seen, and be cared for. The work honors rest as a birthright, joy as a practice, and abundance as a lifestyle.
What inspired you to start this work?
“What has inspired me was my own personal healing journey - it was so major that I knew other women (specifically Black Women) needed to have opportunities to come undone and come back together in ways that really shift/change their life.”
Rakita’s own journey revealed something powerful: healing becomes deeper and more sustainable when done in community. When she didn’t see spaces where Black women could return to themselves without shrinking, she created one.
How do you stay rooted when things get tough?
“I remind myself of the moments we've already made it through. I know that 'tough' is temporary - I don't have any proof that it isn't. My practices of ritual - meditation - re-evaluation and community are what help keep me in space that gets me through tough moments.”
Rakita returns to ritual — to quiet reflection, to remembering endurance, to being held by community. Rootedness is not about avoiding difficulty but knowing you have survived every hard moment before this one.
What recent accomplishment or milestone are you proud of?
“I am really proud that Holistree is turning 10 next year — we have made it this far and continue to be just as passionate (if not more) for the work we do. We just recently opened up our Sweet Life Society — an idea I've had for a while is finally coming to fruition.”
Ten years is legacy.
Ten years is devotion.
Holistree entering its 10th year marks a full decade of care, community, and expansion — now beautifully continued through the launch of The Sweet Life Society, a membership designed as a home for sustained wellness and soft living.
